Please contact Jeff Tarpley (JEFFnTEXARKANA@aol.com) for more information about this pet. Meet Hard Case! Hard Case aka HC is a 2 year old Male, solid black, miniature Dachshund. He weighs 11 pounds. 10/10/08 visited the vet clinic and had his fecal tested negative, heartworm tested positive and his tail examined because half of HC's tail had been cut off. HC was given a steroid Prednisone, antibiotic Cephalexin to prevent infection and Remidil already on hand with JTR for pain. HC is scheduled 10/17/08 to be reexamined to see when he can start heartworm treatment. Full vetting will be preformed after HC recovers from his heartworm treatment. During HC’s neuter his tail will be rounded. HC was rescued 10/10/08 from the Caddo Parish Animal Control in Shreveport, LA. Information is still being sought to find out how HC made it to the shelter and what happen to HC’s tail. JTR received a call from Rebecca Young with Animal Welfare, Inc in Shreveport LA. Rebecca pulled HC from the shelter because of his condition; she knew HC would put to sleep ASAP. Rebecca met JTR in Ida, LA with HC. HC was driven back to Texarkana and was taken to the vet clinic. HC’s tail was bleeding at the cut and he was unable to control his bowels do to the pain. HC is a very loving soul. He does cower when reached to be picked him up. HC is friendly to everyone and is learning that humans love him. A promise was made to HC to find him a home for Christmas. Special thank you to Rebecca Young with Animal Welfare Inc. All animals for adoption are rescued from shelters or owner surrenders. Every JTR rescued animal is fully vetted and 100% healthy prior to adoption. Puppies under 4 months old receive their shots from a DVM. A spay/neuter contract is required for adoption. The vetting of an adult animal includes spay/neutered, shots with rabies, heartworm and parasite tested. Treatment of heartworms, dentals, cherry eye repair, mange, parvo exposure and broken limbs are some examples of what is done to save lives. Vet records come with adoption along with the last date of interceptor for heartworm prevention and frontline placed for flea control. Click here to see JTR's Homeless Animals for Adoption! JTR will transport and ship any animal. All rescued animals deserve a wonderful home now and not sit waiting for months. Jeff will personally drive some distance to help a homeless animal find his or hers forever home. Never adopted before? Everyone wishing to adopt an animal from JTR must complete an adoption application. This application asks for general information about the adopter, adopter’s family, other current and prior pets and previous veterinary care. If you have never had a family pet before, follow up veterinary calls will be made during the year to insure the animal is being well cared for. Home visits are required unless the distance is too far for JTR or JTR’s contacts. Pictures of the home and common ground are required. Once the application is approved the adopter may meet and or adopt any of JTR's animals. A signed adoption contract is required. Adopters with approved applications are top priority to JTR.
